Clouding your way into the Story

The story I plan to revise has a character that doesn't have a name, I refer to it as him. However, i liked this exercise so I created a fictional character that I thought about. I might use it for my practice writing. I am choosing to write about Ema. It is one of the stories that I had in mind.

                                                                         --------------

As she drove past the city limits and looked in the rear-view mirror, a flood of emotions overcame her. It was as if a tsunami of all the past memories had taken over her, engulfing her in pain and resentment over what had happened to her in the past couple of years. Her chest heaved as she tried to control her tears and shake the sadness that had made its way from her heart to her eyes and was about to come out as a drop of water from the sides of her eyes. As she adjusted the rear-view mirror, she checked on the almost 5 year old baby peacefully sleeping in the back seat. His face so pure, so gentle, so lovely. He was unaware that by the time he woke up, they would be in their new home. His friends, his cousins, his grandparents, all left behind in the town that they used to call home. It was time for change, for happiness, for peace for the both of them for no one deserved a marriage full of abuse. She wiped the drop of water that had made its way down the cheek, pulled herself back together and turned the radio on. Bobby McFerrin's voice came on.

'Cause when you worry your face will frown
And that will bring everybody downSo don't worry, be happy'

Ironic, she thought to herself and smiled. Things are gonna be just fine. She re-adjusted her mirror and stepped on the gas pedal.
