The Power of Three Little Words

Natalie ran to Pete's office, furious that he had rejected my story. She kept re-reading the email. It is not an important enough story to be published. How could it be?

Natalie: "What is this?"
Pete: "Please sit down."
Natalie:"Don't even!"
Pete: "Relax, let me explain."
Natalie:"How could you?"
Pete: "I run a business."
Natalie: "Of publishing truth."
Pete: "And making money."
Natalie: "So that's it? Money?"
Pete: "They're powerful people."
Natalie: "He killed Samantha!"
Pete: "And he's sorry."
Natalie: "And?"
Pete: "Try to undrestand."
Natalie: "I do."

Natalie could not believe that her manager refused to run the story. The mayor's son had killed Samantha in broad day light. The same Samantha that we had worked with for 4 years to get some of the best stories. The same girl that helped Pete grow his publishing house to one of the best in the business in only a matter of 2 years.

Everyone knew how obsessed the mayor's son was with her and how much it botherer him that she did not feel anything for him romantically. But this, this was just frustrating. She knew she had all the links and they all pointed to the mayor's son. But it wasn't enough because Pete was scared that the Mayor would use his contacts to shut down his publishing house.

Pete: "Have some water."
Natalie: "She was Samantha!"
Pete: "I realize, but.."
Natalie: "You got sold!"
Pete: "I am trying."
Natalie: "To get more money?"
Pete: "To save us."
Natalie: "It's not for us."
Pete: "Hear me out."
Natalie: "It's for the money, isn't it?"
Pete: "They threatened us"
Natalie: "What do you mean?"
Pete: "The whole team."
Natalie: "So we give up?"
Pete: "So we wait."
Natalie: "For?"
Pete: "The right Time."

Natalie looked at Pete and sighed. They were more powerful, and they could bring use the connections to harm the whoever came in their way.

Natalie: "We're giving up in her."
Pete: "She'd want us to be safe."
Natalie: "She was our friend."
Pete: "I loved her too."
Natalie: "We'll get them."
Pete: "I promise, Natalie."
Natalie: "I miss her."
Pete: "We've to be smart."
Natalie: "I hate him."
Pete: "We'll get him."

Pete offered her a glass of water. Natalie looked at him as she took the glass. As much as she was hurting, she knew sometimes its best to wait. They just need stronger evidence to get to him, and she wasn't going to stop until she did.

Natalie: "Yes, yes we will."
